HOW TO - Make bacon soap

Nothing gets you clean like good ole’ fashion bacon soap, Noah writes…
Soap can be made from just about any kind of fat. Even though fat from bacon, called lard, isn’t the finest of fats to use for making soap, it somehow seemed to be the most exciting. Why? Because bacon is amazing. It has an almost mystical power to it and is a food that can be craved to almost no end. I figured what better way use the extra grease I had from cooking bacon then to turn it into soap!

Refashioned Maker Faire Bag into Patchwork Tote

Amy Jenkins has refashioned her Maker Faire bag into this patchwork tote. Amy says, “The Maker Faire canvas bag is a bag collector’s delight. However, I wanted something more heavy duty so I could tote books around. I hate getting stuck waiting in line without a book. I found some inexpensive leather scraps and made a patchwork tote out of the bag. I was able to celebrate my love of pie in the process.” Check out her photo tutorial! Link.

HOW TO - Remaking a Maker bag

Lenore from Evil Mad Scientist writes -
“Last year at the Maker Faire they gave away nifty canvas tote bags that have nice large handles and are a great shape and size.
The recent call for proposals for this year’s Maker Faire has just reminded us (1) that we need to choose a project to submit (we brought our dining table last year), and (2) that we were going to do something cool with that bag! Some time ago, it was suggested in this instructable that there be a Make Bag Re-Make contest this year. In that spirit, we are providing this guide to improving your bag and making it a little more useful. We have added a zipper closure and pockets and loops for pens, tools, business cards, an mp3 player, and of course, our favorite slipstick.” - Link.
