Artist Ola Pehrson turns data from the stock market into sheets of music for a choir to sing…
” A vast amount of information in the shape of index graphs is constantly being created at the different stock markets of the world. In the project “NASDAQ vocal index” the graphs of companies listed on the NASDAQ are transformed into music. Computer software converts the graphs to sheets of music, and the scores are presented online on a projection screen, to be read and sung by a member of a local choir. Every company has got its own voice and together the choir vocally interprets the current situation on the market.” [via] - Link & video.

One of my favorite makers waldemeyer.com sent in his pong table!
“I saw all the ping pong tables on the make blog and I thought my Pong Table would fit in there, too. It is made of Corian, has about 2500 LEDs embedded, run by a couple of PIC microcontrollers with two hidden track pads on either end as input devices. When switched off, non of this technology is visible, the table can be used as a normal dining table. The LEDs shine through the material and the trackpads work through the material, too.
Have a look through my website… there are more make-compatible projects like robotic dresses, a roulette table, text message chandelier etc.” - Link.

Eecue got a tour of the Triforium control center in LA -
“…Even now the Triforium has been drawing praise and scorn, most recently from the City Attorney’s office which has been claiming that the music is disturbing them and has requested it only play from 11am to 1pm, which completely defeats the purpose of having the lights on, as you can hardly see them during the day. Although many art critics despise the sculpture I find it strangely charming and the primitive computer control system intrigues me.
When we looked through the control center today we found an old Teletype machine that was used to read and write punch tape which held the program the Triforium’s computer used to synchronize with music…” [via] - Link & gallery.
